One of my favorite things about weddings might not be what you think.
There are so many amazing moments I’ve been able to capture of brides and grooms seeing each other for the first time, whether across the aisle at long last, or playful bride sneaking up on an unsuspecting husband, these images are the stuff of wedding photographer legend.
For me, though, sometimes just as heartfelt and magical are the moments I get to capture of couple’s family being present for this beautiful chapter in their loved ones’ lives. I think it can be easy to forget that mom and dads, siblings, best friends, and relatives are all a part of the journey in a couple’s love story.
Maybe it’s the roommate that introduced them and watched something spring from nothing. Maybe it’s the father who’s watching his daughter walk into a brand new role and family. O maybe it’s the sister or brother who was a faithful companion, there to listen and ride out all the peaks and valleys of their sibling’s relationship.
In between the moments of excitement about what’s to come and saying I do, I sometimes get to capture those sweet moments of reflection from parents, extended family, and friends, who have been on this journey too, in one way or another.
I saw this joy and thoughtfulness in Leslie and Billy’s families as they went about their big day. It was so sweet to see all these close tight-knit people celebrating the couple on this next step in their lives together.
And this particular journey was an eternal vibe. Pearlescent white walls and mansion aesthetics, Leslie and Billy’s day was nothing short of glamorous and classy. From the beautiful lace detailing on her perfectly fitted gown and sleek marble hallways, to string quartets and gorgeous pink tones throughout the reception, this wedding was such a special moment.
