I love when I get to photograph a venue that’s not one of my regulars, and Mill Grove at the John James Audubon Center was such an idyllic venue for a wedding!
In my chats with the bride, she had in mind a nature-centered bohemian vibe with lots of flowers, plenty of whimsy, and a big helping of romance! Sounded dreamy to me.
Come to find out there was another reason for the couple’s choice of the Audubon Center. Kendall shared “we chose the John James Audubon Center because my dad had a love of birds and it seemed fitting to have a bird sanctuary as a venue! He also loved owls – hence the reason we opted to have an owl during cocktail hour.” She also wore a pair of sneakers under her wedding dress in his honor.
It was such a special tribute to her father.
Jason and Kendall were so thoughtful about everything on their wedding day. They were most looking forward to the quiet couple of minutes they were going alone, right after saying ‘I do’.
Having met at a party back in their senior year in college, the two didn’t realize their Greek life houses shared a parking lot and that they were neighbors! They hit it off after meeting at a campus party and we’re a pair forever after. Kendall joked they’d been together for 6 and a half years and were SO ready to tie the knot!
Of course, there was also plenty of excitement for the party! After their heartfelt ceremony, the bride and groom planned a fun a laid back reception with lawn games and a fire pit in the back, and that amazing owl that guests could interact with during the cocktail hour.
In the mix of steel blue and earthy green, the riot of flower arrangements, and the greenery from the lush grounds, Kendall and Jason got their beautiful bohemian wedding surrounded by their dearest friends and family. And an owl too!
