Spotted: A dreamy spring afternoon spent capturing Stephaney and Johnny’s engagement photos at Central Park in the height of cherry blossom season. If you’ve ever dreamed of recreating your own Gossip Girl moment under a canopy of blooms, this is your sign!
Central Park Engagement Photography in NYC
There’s something about Central Park in the spring that feels absolutely cinematic. Whether you’re drawn to the grandeur of Bethesda Terrace or the quiet romance tucked along winding paths, this park is the ultimate backdrop for an NYC engagement session. Stephaney and Johnny’s photoshoot captured the perfect blend of polished sophistication and city fairytale. An Upper East Side-worthy love story if there ever was one.

(Blair Waldorf would 100% approve.)

Cherry Blossom Season in Central Park
If you’re wondering when the magic happens, cherry blossom season in Central Park typically peaks in mid to late April, depending on the weather each year. Some of the best places to catch the blooms include the Pond near Gapstow Bridge, Pilgrim Hill, the area around Bethesda Terrace, and Cherry Hill (yes, it’s called Cherry Hill for a reason!).

Picture yourself wandering through soft pink clouds of petals. It’s giving iconic NYC engagement shoot energy.
For the best time to experience the cherry blossoms in Central Park, I recommend visiting in early morning or around golden hour.

Outfit Ideas for an NYC Engagement Session
Stephaney’s look was chef’s kiss for a spring session. She wore the Briony Dress from Reformation, a soft, flowy floral number that moved beautifully in the breeze. The floral print paired perfectly with cherry blossom season!

Johnny kept it classic and timeless with a navy blazer, khaki pants, light blue button-down, and brown belt and shoes.
(Think Nate Archibald and his many, many collared shirts.)
Together, they looked effortlessly chic, exactly what you want for an NYC engagement shoot where the backdrop is already doing the most.
Best Engagement Photo Spots in NYC
We started their session at the Gapstow Bridge, one of the most popular and movie-famous spots for engagement photos at Central Park. Framed by the skyline and the water, it’s a postcard-perfect location for anyone searching “engagement photo locations near me” and wanting a blend of city and nature.

Gapstow Bridge has serious Hollywood credentials. It’s been featured in Home Alone 2, Weekend at Bernie’s, and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. If you want a spot that feels romantic and iconic, this is it.
Several of their photos also feature the San Remo in the background, one of NYC’s most famous twin-towered buildings. Standing tall since the 1930s, it offers pure vintage New York glamour. (A little Serena van der Woodsen fantasy moment.)

And because no engagement photos at Central Park are complete without a dramatic Chuck and Blair adventure, we headed to Bethesda Terrace and Fountain. With its grand staircases and beautiful view over the Lake, it’s one of the most popular places for couples portraits in this area.

Cue the dramatic string music and meaningful glances across the water. But hopefully no police sirens and cops chasing you down for damning evidence against your not-dead father.
