As far as Pennsylvania wedding venues go, Terrain Gardens at DelVal is one of the best—and a photographer’s dream to capture! Located in Doylestown, on the campus of Delaware Valley University, the idyllic venue is the perfect combination of rustic architecture and European elegance, with ample indoor and outdoor spaces to enjoy. Shannon and Ben’s day was full of friends, family, and one EPIC sunset. Keep scrolling for inspiration on planning your wedding at Terrain Gardens at DelVal!
Overview of The Terrain Gardens at DelVal
Despite only being an hour outside of the city, Terrain Gardens will transport you to another world. The modern farmhouse architecture perfectly combines old-world rustic elements with more contemporary finishes.
Terrain Gardens at DelVal is a relatively new wedding venue in Pennsylvania; however, it is quickly growing to become a favorite and I was thrilled with the opportunity to finally explore this location in the Deleware Valley— it did not disappoint.
Wedding Ceremony and Reception at Terrain Gardens Venue
Shannon and Ben chose the venue to be the backdrop of their September wedding, allowing them to take advantage of both the indoor and outdoor areas of the property. Being a late summer wedding, the ceremony took place outdoors in the beautiful gardens overlooking the orchard, followed by an unforgettable reception inside Trellis Hall.
Trellis Hall, despite being a relatively new building, boasts a unique historical charm with vaulted ceilings, vintage-style chandeliers, and wood flooring with plenty of natural light. The gardens are evergreen with different blooms and colors depending on the season, and a small garden house forms the backdrop of your ceremony.
The gardens, orchards, and fields surrounding the property offer plenty of spots to capture great photos – especially on days like Ben and Shannon’s wedding day, where we were treated to a spectacular September sunset (and I got some of my favorite shots from the day!).
Bridal Attire
Shannon wore a stunning, backless dress from @daydream_bridal and @janehillbridal with a train that would make a Disney princess jealous and a beautiful custom veil by @nilahco. Shannon’s nine(!) bridesmaids wowed in shades of silver (@bellabridesmaids @jennyyoonyc) complimenting the bride’s jeweled dress.
One of my favorite parts of this wedding at Terrain Gardens was Shannon’s reception outfit change! Instead of opting for a wedding dress change, she slipped into a comfy white bridal sweatsuit and sparkly Converses to dance the night away. She even wore it through exit photos! I honestly loved how authentic it felt to Shannon’s fun-loving personality; it truly allowed her to let her hair down and enjoy the night with zero wardrobe malfunctions.
Our quick direct flash photography sesh with Ben helping Shannon into her second outfit was a blast and the photos turned out so cute!
