I have been dying to share Kathryn and Blake’s (very large) gallery of engagement photos in NYC. This was one of my most fast-paced & fun engagement photoshoots to date! Our adventure involves my close friends, a vintage taxi cab (yup, we went full-on nostalgic New York style), and the city that never sleeps serving us its best looks. Let’s dive into this rom-com-worthy escapade!
Engagement Photoshoot in NYC
You may have seen my last session with these two, featuring Blake’s sweet waterfront proposal to Kathryn on the East River. It was so full of love, friends, and happy tears, and their urban engagement shoot was no different.
These two lovebirds decided to ditch the cliche engagement photo script and opt for the concrete jungle they call home as the backdrop of their photoshoot. And as their third wheel/photographer, I was all in for this urban fairy tale.
Vintage Taxi Cab Rental Service NYC
The genius move? Hiring a vintage taxi cab rental service. This was no ordinary yellow cab. This ride had character and style, serving as the perfect accessory to our citywide photoshoot. And our cab driver, Peter, kept us laughing the entire time.
Riding in style in our vintage cab from Film Cars @filmcarsny (think less “smelly and cramped” and more “vibes on wheels”), we hit up the city’s top spots. This wasn’t just any photo shoot; it was an urban safari, capturing love in the wilds of NYC.
NYC Engagement Photoshoot Ideas
Starting in the heart of NYC’s charm, surrounded by quintessential brownstone apartments and quaint tree-lined streets, we stopped first at the Cherry Lane Theatre. This is the oldest continuously running off-Broadway theater in New York City, located on Commerce Street between Barrow and Bedford Streets in the West Village neighborhood of Greenwich Village.
The vibes were immaculate. Kathryn wore a chic floral sundress, and Blake looked as dapper as ever in a blue suit and patterned tie. Between the tax cab joyride and these two posing professionals, we captured pure magic against the backdrop of these iconic buildings.
It’s probably no surprise that Kathryn also models and she and Blake both met through their work in showbiz!
NYC Outfits for Engagement Photos
Enter outfit change number two for Kathryn and Blake. I love the way their photoshoot transitioned from day to night, not only with the change in scenery and energy but with the outfits as well.
Right at dusk, we hit Times Square to capture the nightlife and some direct flash photography. Our vintage cab, now part of the squad, took center stage amidst the electric buzz. The photos? Unreal.
This photoshoot wasn’t just about snapping pretty pictures. It was a journey through the old and the new, the timeless and the momentary. It was even more meaningful to capture this love story in the place Kathryn and Blake met, fell in love, and now call home. From the historic charm of brownstones to the futuristic glow of Times Square, this love story was told in the language of New York itself.
“New York is not a city, it’s a world.”
– Truman Capote, Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1958)
Best Spots for Engagement Photos in NYC
And because I’m all about spreading the love (and the pro tips), let’s talk about the best locations for those looking to capture their unique love tales in NYC:
1. Central Park
Obvi. It’s vast, versatile, and vogue. Not to mention, it’s basically the OG of photoshoot locations. You’ve got bridges, boats, and Bethesda Terrace. Want to feel like you’re in a fairytale without leaving the concrete jungle? Central Park is your go-to.

2. Brooklyn Bridge
It’s got those “We’re in a rom-com” vibes, minus the unnecessary love triangle drama. Early morning is your friend here unless you fancy photobombing tourists and randoms in the background.
3. DUMBO, Brooklyn
That Manhattan skyline view with the cobblestone streets? Chef’s kiss. It’s like the city is photobombing you but in the most supportive way possible.
4. The High Line
Walk among the flowers and the art installations, and pretend you’re not slightly out of breath. The elevated park vibes give you greenery and cityscape in one in case you’re undecided. Plus, the architecture along the way is a visual feast.
5. West Village
Cobblestone streets, European-style cafes, and the chance to recreate your favorite Friends scene. Could there BE any more character?
6. Times Square (at night)
For the brave souls. It’s chaotic, colorful, and absolutely electric. Capture the energy of the city that never sleeps. If you can smooch here, you can smooch anywhere.

When it comes to engagement photos in NYC, the best places are those that resonate with your unique story.
